Research

The overall goal of our research is to increase food sustainability and gut intestinal health exploiting the functional activity of microbes.

We use single microbes, design consortia and work with complex microbial communities from food systems and the human and animal intestine.

Our research program employs a combination of advanced molecular tools, aerobic and anaerobic cultivation, biotechnological processes such as food, batch and continuous fermentation systems, and various analytical chromatography techniques.
