• Congrats Lotte to recieve the Grundfos Student Prize! A well recognation of her hardwork in the past year!  

OCTOBER 2023

• We received a synergy grant (3.0 million DKK) from Villum Foundation. Together with Associate Professor Xuping Zhang from MPE, we will integrate machine learning with PFAS degradation. Very excited about this "think out of box" project!

• Welcome Duaa to start her internship at WEI Lab!

MAY 2023

• The Thermo Scientific™ TSQ Fortis™ Plus UHPLC-MS/MS has been installed in our lab. It will be a working horse for PFAS analysis from now on!

DECEMBER 2022

• Dr. Wei was honored the World’s Top 2% Scientists in Environmental Science (2021) by Stanford University!
• We received a 2.25 million DKK project from COWIfonden & Region Syddanmark to study PFAS remediation in groundwater. Collaborators include researchers from KU and scientists from Geosyntec, US.

NOVEMBER 2022

• A new DFF project was funded to develop modified membrane for effective PFAS concentration and degradation. It is a collaborative work with Mads Koustrup Jørgensen from Aarlborg Unviersity.
• Chizoba, Frederick, Zongsu, and Unisense colleauges attend the 2022 Danish Offshore Technology Conference at Kolding. Zongsu gave an invited talk about CO2 detection and monitoring undersea.

• We received a 2.9 million DKK project from Independent Research Fund Denmark to enhance Power-to-Hydrogen using ultrasound waves! We will work with Prof. Anders Bentien and Prof. Muthupandian Ashokkumar from University of Melbourne, AU, on this project.

• We received a 0.9 million DKK project from DHRTC to test an idea of on-line acid descaling for produced water re-injection! This is a collaborative project with Ocean Team Scandinavia A/S.

• We received a 3.0 million DKK project from Novo Nordisk Fonden to find a novel aqua cleaner for forever chemical PFAS! We will work with Dr. Zheng Guo to discover new enzymes and photocatalysts that can break C-F bond.

• Dr. Wei has been appointed as the Associate Editor for IWA flagship Journal Water Research (Impact factor of 9.130 in 2019). It's a great honor!

JUNE 2020

• Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (DHRTC) funded WEI Lab for another radical idea of on-line detection of dissolved oils and chemicals in produced water with their Jumpstart Grant (0.3M DKK). Excited to test this "radical" idea!

MAY 2020

• Another imprint in Ultrasonics Sonochemistry,  "Effect of sediment particle size on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon bioaccessibility and degradation by ultrasound".
• Collaborated works "Experimental and simulation studies of metal sulfide precipitates separation in copper smelting waste acid using a gravitation field-flow fractionation method" published on Journal of Water Process Engineering and "Optimizing and understanding the pressurized vertical electro-osmotic dewatering of activated sludge" on Process Safety and Environmental Protection.

APRIL 2020

• Dr. Wei joins the Editorial Board of Chemosphere, Elsevier Publishing. Chemosphere is a leading international journal for environmental chemistry, with an impact factor of 5.778 in 2019.
• A collaborated work "Simultaneous disinfection of E. faecalis and degradation of carbamazepine by sulfate radicals: An experimental and modeling study" was published on Environmental Pollution.

MARCH 2020

• Dr. Wei's paper "A hybrid iron oxyhydroxide agglomerates-ultrafiltration process for efficient removal of chromate" was published on Environmental Technology. 

FEBRUARY 2020

• Dr. Wei is promoted as the Editor for Water Science & Technology, IWA Publishing.
• "Elucidating sulfate radical-mediated disinfection profiles and mechanisms of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis in municipal wastewater" is published on Water Research. 
• A collaborated work "Polyethylenimine-modified chitosan materials for the recovery of La(III) from leachates of bauxite residue" was published on Chemical Engineering Journal.

JANUARY 2020

• Dr. Wei received a Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (DHRTC) Radical Jumpstart Grant (0.3M DKK) to explore a TNTs@AC based sponge filter. 
• Welcome Pegah Nazari, a visiting PhD student from Iran, and Omid Yousefi as a master student to WEI Lab!
• Dr. Wei gave a presentation regarding PFAS photodegradation at the Danish Water Forum at Copenhagen.

DECEMBER 2019

• Dr. Wei received Aarhus University Research Foundation (AUFF) Starting Grant (2.35M DKK) to kick off a project related to carbon material based photocatalyst! 
• "Experimental and theoretical insights into kinetics and mechanisms of hydroxyl and sulfate radicals-mediated degradation of sulfamethoxazole: Similarities and differences" is published on Environmental Pollution.

• Dr. Wei's paper "Treatment of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in Landfill Leachate: Status, Chemistry and Prospects" is published on Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology.
