Air Treatment Technology

Treatment of exhaust air from agricultural and industrial processes is a key enabling technology for achieving sustainability. Air treatment can be used to mitigate emissions of VOCs, ammonia, volatile sulfur compounds, and potentially methane. Biological, chemical, and hybrid technologies are relevant and can be selected based on the specific conditions.

We are targeting emissions from biogas plants and agricultural facilities, both cases for which emission to the atmosphere is an impediment to further development.

A key challenge in air treatment technology is to achieve sufficient removal of very volatile compounds due to their low aqueous solubility.

This includes volatile sulfur compounds emitted from a range of biomass conversion processes (e.g. anaerobic digestion). Controlling volatile sulfur and H2S in particular is considered a key to achieving a circular bioeconomy with integrated conversion processes.

We are therefore specifically aiming at new processes and materials that enable high mass transfer and conversion of volatile sulfur compounds.
