The research is carried out on surface modification of various substrates with small molecules as well as polymers and the fundamental understanding of the synthesis and surface interactions. Focus is on joining incompatible materials and adhesion promotion.
The future main focus is on synthetic polymeric materials with special emphasis on polymer synthesis, analysis and degradation. Examples of applications are within surface related phenomena’s such as adhesion promotion of coatings, surface initiated polymerization, surface anchoring of polymers as well as within bulk polymer material for example thermal degradation of polymer during injection moulding and UV degradation mechanisms.
Finally, we also do research with emphasis on polymer design and synthesis of copolymers, for water friction reduction, model materials for bio matter, novel membranes, scaffold polymers, etc.
