Infections, Carcinogenesis and Regeneration

Our research aims to deliver novel cellular and molecular determinants of antimicrobial targets and early cancer intervention strategies by investigating the dynamics of tissue regeneration and how extrinsic factors like infections and diet perturb tissue homeostasis and initiate pathologies, including metaplasia and cancer.

Central to our approach is developing and applying advanced preclinical in vitro complex 3D-organoids and co-culture systems, in vivo models, and employing state-of-the-art technologies, including CRISPR/cas9 genome engineering, high-resolution multispectral microscopy, single-cell and spatial omics of transcripts and proteins to decipher cellular and molecular cross-talks involved in pathogenesis.
