The Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering offers public agencies and ministries research-based public sector services and consultancy on technology in agriculture and food. This includes consultancy in connection with specific commissions from ministries as well as research to form the basis for the consultancy.

Our consultancy is based on research into environmental technologies related to livestock production, as well as to biorefining and bioenergy production. Public sector consultancy also includes research into animal manure management and is based in particular on gas emissions, the impact on the greenhouse gas balance and the reduction of odour nuisance. Focus is on the entire chain in manure management, from leaving the animal until it is spread on the field.

Work includes acute ad hoc tasks, studies and evaluations as well as approval of environmental technology in the MELT committee run by the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark.
