- Bekir hosted Dr. Debasis Das from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, during his visit to AU-BCE on 4th November, 2024. Dr. Das gave a seminar on his recent research on some fantastic enzymes with applications in biofuels and medicine, which attracted great attention recently in the field. - Bekir, Frederik, Fang and Niels participated in the 11th International Congress on Biocatalysis held in Hamburg, Germany, from August 25-29, 2024. Organized by TU Hamburg, the congress attracted 365 participants from 40 countries and led to fruitful discussions with many other researchers in the field.
- Bekir attended the 2024 Gordon Research Conference on Biocatalysis, which was held in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA at the beginning of July, 2024.
- Bekir, Frederik and Niels attended the 6th Multistep Enzyme Catalyzed Processes Congress (MECP 2024), which took place in Vienna on 14th-17th April, 2024. Niels and Frederik presented posters on their projects. Our new Horizon Europe project ACTPAC (A Complete Transformation PAth for C-C backboned plastic wastes to high-value Chemicals and materials), led by Prof. Zheng Guo, and our work package regarding enzymatic alkane functionalization have also been introduced in Frederik's poster. Niels presented a poster on his recent work for characterization of Polymethoxyflavone O-demethylases from Human Gut Bacterium, a DFF funded project, in collaboration with Prof. Jaehong Han from Chung-Ang University, Korea.
- Bekir attended 4th International Symposium on Microbial Lipids in Graz, Austria on 11-14 February 2024. He gave a talk on a new hydratase ortholog recently characterized in the lab.
- Bekir attended EuroFed Lipid Congress and Expo in September 2023, held in Poznan/Poland, and delivered a talk on Fatty acid photodecarboxylase.
- Bekir gave an invited lecture in the 3rd ASNP-KNUT Joint Symposium on Asian Biotechnology and Natural Products Research held in Korea on Oct 11-13, 2023
