BCE's Honorary Professor John Bøgild Hansen Receives Prestigious International Award

We are proud to share that John Bøgild Hansen has received the Christian Friedrich Schönbein Gold Medal of Honour 2026 at the European Fuel Cell Forum (EFCF).

We are proud to share that John Bøgild Hansen has received the 2026 Christian Friedrich Schönbein Gold Medal of Honour at the European Fuel Cell Forum (EFCF), held in Lucerne, Switzerland, on 3 July 2026.

The medal is one of the most prestigious international distinctions in the fields of fuel cells, electrolysis, and Power-to-X. It is awarded in recognition of a lifetime of outstanding contributions to the advancement of science and technology and honours researchers who have made a lasting impact on the field over many years.

John receives the award for his long-standing scientific and industrial contributions to the development and implementation of technologies in hydrogen, catalysis, solid oxide electrolysis, and Power-to-X - technologies that are central to the green transition.

During a 47-year career at Topsoe, John has been one of the leading figures in catalysis, hydrogen technologies, and electrolysis. He holds more than 30 patents, has published over 80 scientific papers, and has led numerous international research and development projects.

Earlier this year, John was appointed honorary Professor of Power-to-X and Electrofuels at Aarhus University and is affiliated with the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering (BCE).

This award is a significant recognition of the value of our collaboration with internationally renowned researchers. It also strengthens Aarhus University's position in the green transition and in the development of future energy and process technologies.

Congratulations to John Bøgild Hansen on this well-deserved honorary award!
