I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health, Aarhus University. I have been engaged in nursing research for over 15 years.
My interest lies in the development of the nursing, with a focus on generating knowledge about health and nursing interventions aimed at promoting a good everyday life with illness.
I am a Senior Associate Professor at the Centre for Research in Care and Rehabilitation at VIA University College, and affiliated with the Centre for Research in Health and Nursing, Regional Hospital Central Jutland
My research focuses on 'Everyday Life with Long-term Illness,' with a particular emphasis on Parkinson's disease. I place special focus on the perspectives of patients and their relatives to understand how everyday life with illness is affected and managed.
Through intervention studies I work with developing person-centred interventions. The goal is to optimise healthcare and develop sollutions supporting conditions for a good everyday life for people living with long-term illness and their relatives.
I teach the Master's Programme in Nursing, the Master's Programme for Advanced Practice Nurses (APN), and the Master's Programme in Clinical Nursing. Additionally, I supervise PhD students and participate in the evaluation of PhD dissertations.
My teaching areas include teaching nursing theory, phenomenological methodology used in health sciences, and the incorporation of the patient perspective in nursing.
I have contributed with several chapters to textbooks within these areas.
I work with National, Scandinavian, and European colleagues on projects that in various ways relate to my research areas.
I collaborate with the bachelor programme in nursing to involve students, lecturers and senior lecturers in projects and strive to support the integration of education, research, and clinical practice.
I am part of a national network for research-active neurological nurses.
I am part of the Parkinson's Association's advisory board for research collaborations and development.
I am both a project leader and an active participant in several research projects with an international network. I am involved in national and international project applications.
